Absolutely! Come to us anytime for help. We’ll be happy to suggest styles, materials and bridal stores suited to your liking. It’s not easy to buy a wedding dress, and we’d love to share our knowledge.
Yes – each dress is custom made to your specifications and to fit your body perfectly. We know this dress is special, and we mean it when we say that our business is designed around you. Many other bridal stores simply take measurements, order a standard size, and rely on alterations for just an average fit. We don’t believe in short cuts or mass production – we truly make to order.
Yes – each veil is custom made, as are our dresses. You can pick a veil to match your dress from our website, samples at the store, or come up with ideas of your own.
Since every dress is custom made, we ask for a non-refundable 50% initial deposit. If the wedding gown is not in production upon cancellation, you will receive a full refund on your initial deposit payment less administrative charge of $100. Once the dress arrives, If you’re unhappy for whatever reason, we’ll work with you to make it right, through adjustments, tailoring or other means necessary. Unused accessories in their original packaging including receipt are returnable within 30 days, excluding shipping cost.
Wedding gowns will be shipped to our facility in Manhattan. We will notify you once merchandise is received. It is your responsibility to pay the balance due in full and attend the fittings as scheduled. If requested, upon full payment (including shipping charges), Pret a Marier will ship the merchandise to a U.S. address provided by you. In such case, it is your responsibility to provide an accurate shipping address, locate a tailor, and arrange for fittings and alterations at your own costs. Additional fees will apply for shipping. Pret a Marier does not bear the risk of loss or damage for such shipping.
Yes. Our dresses are custom made and not dependent on inventory. If it’s on our website, we can make it.

However, you can try on dresses elsewhere, and once you’ve settled on a style that suits you, come to us. Yes. We recognize that buying a wedding dress is emotional and that you want to know what you’re buying, so we keep a number of sample dresses, and a wide selection of sample colors and materials. It’s our way of showing off our quality and ensuring that there are no surprises in color, fabric feel or stitching.
We’ll serve you anywhere in the U.S. Our tailors in Manhattan will take your exact measurements for perfect fit. If you’re farther away from the New York City area, we recommend using your own tailor for measurement and adjustments.
According to your wedding date, we will suggest an arrival date for your dress at our store. We typically can deliver the dress to our store in up to three months from order. Once your dress arrives at our store, you will meet with our tailor for final adjustments, and a final fitting a week or two before your wedding date…and then, you can waltz away with your wedding dress, super happy! If you’re facing an emergency, let us know – we’ll work with you!
Absolutely! Many New York brides are crunched for space and want to keep the dress as a surprise for their loving groom. We understand, and we’d like to help. Just don’t forget to pick up your dress for the wedding!
Even with the best measurements, adjustments are usually necessary in such a complex product. Our local tailors will adjust your dress wherever necessary, and if you’re still unhappy for whatever reason, we’ll work with you to make it right, through adjustments, tailoring or other means necessary.
We’re confident that you’ll be satisfied with our quality and fit of your dress. If you’re in New York City and the surrounding area, we offer free tailoring in almost all cases, using our own tailor. To prevent the rare case of abuse of our free tailoring, we add a disclaimer: the purchase price will include and be limited to three complimentary fittings for minor modifications for sizing only. Any additional fittings will cost $200 per fitting and any custom alterations will be in the amount indicated in the face of the Purchase Order. In no event shall alterations include change in fabrics or the approved design of the gown. You must bring your shoes and undergarments to all fittings. Any change in alteration appointments must be made at least one week in advance, subject to availability.
Many bridal stores charge extra for proportional adjustments to the dress for brides that are taller or shorter than the standard size (known as hollow-to-hem adjustments). With us, each dress is custom made to your specifications and to fit your exact size, so we don’t need hollow-to-hem adjustments.
We accept MasterCard, Visa and Discover. We also accept cash or personal checks for down payments.
We don’t have one or need one. Our dresses are always priced fairly, and we don’t have a giant inventory or leftovers. Each and every dress is made especially for you at a price that you can appreciate.
We know that once your big day is done, the last thing you want to worry about is your dress. If you want to, we can prepare your dress for storage by connecting with a preservation specialist. Or, we can help you donate your dress to a not-for-profit of your choice. We’ll handle the logistics to give your dress a second life and to help other women achieve their dream of wearing a beautiful wedding dress. Giving back.
